US magazine spearheaded a new internal communication strategy for telecoms company, THUS plc.

Kazoom had the challenge of creating a new inspirational magazine that successfully instilled a communal spirit within disparate offices across the UK, including Glasgow, Manchester and London.

THUS wanted a magazine that would engage its employees by imparting information about the company, its business and HR strategy and what fellow colleagues did, both socially and within the workplace.

Kazoom used a consultative approach with THUS to ensure that the communication goals of the company were met. Consequently, Kazoom developed an accessible publication and used the name US to convey the idea that everyone had an important role to play in what was included in the magazine.

Our role encompassed end-to-end project management of this quarterly magazine, including flatplanning, editorial planning, writing and interviewing, design and production through to print and distribtuion.

The results

We included an email response tool for the magazine and the results were impressive. Employee response to internal comms increased by 50%, with staff regularly suggesting what they wanted to read about, including how directors approached company issues, how departments worked with one another, and what new benefits HR were providing staff with.

Tthe fact that staff rated US magazine very highly in the employee survey as a key communication tool was also testament to its success.

Due to its success, Kazoom was then asked to roll US magazine out as a digital edition to allow staff to read it while on the move, and we also developed a weekly email newsletter to keep everyone abreast of the latest developments within the company on a more regular basis.
